Paolo Salvatori, born in Rome in 1954, after graduating in Political Sciences joined the State Administration in the field of international trade.
Soon moving into the national security apparatus, he was engaged for almost three decades in countering particularly insidious threats such as the trafficking of sensitive technologies, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and international terrorism.
He was Director of the Counter-Proliferation Division and the Counter-Terrorism Division of the External Intelligence and Security Agency (AISE).
On 20 April 2018 he published, with the publisher La Lepre Edizioni, the essay entitled “Spie? L'Intelligence nel sistema di sicurezza internazionale” (“Spies? Intelligence in the international security system”), whose preface was written by Robert Gorelick, former CIA head in Italy, and whose afterword was written by Alberto Manenti, former Director of the A.I.S.E.
